Young Leadership Collaboration Program

Without the guidance from the mentors that I met during my time in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy I would never have been able to understand the significance of business at such an early age. I am forever grateful for YEA and all that it does for the youth of Sacramento.

I’ve always felt included in the program which I really liked. It was amazing to have worked with the other scholars and getting the opportunity to actually meet them all in person. I enjoyed all the in person meetings even though I thought three hours was too long it was just enough time to work on our project. My experience in the program was a once in a lifetime experience and I’m so happy I was apart of the cohort.

Mr.Kaifa along with the rest of the YLC staff for this amazing opportunity I would totally recommend this to anyone and everyone💗!

There will always be something to fight for and you can never put a price on making a difference. Just as all the people connected to the YEA will continue to help change the world, so will I. First by becoming the person that I knew deep down I had the potential to be and next by helping others discover that same potential in themselves that the YEA helped me to find in myself.

I really enjoyed my experience as a scholar. The sessions were well-prepared and I gained a lot of good information. I felt like the group of scholars and facilitators got along really well. My biggest disappointment was the mentoring aspect of it. I feel like my expectations weren't too high (check-in with me, make an effort to reach out), but I ended up being disappointed anyway.

I participated in the Capital Black Chamber of Commerce’s YEA program during my senior year of high school and I’ve had and entrepreneurial spirit ever since! My commitment to my dream is demonstrated by my academic performance.

YEA was one of the major influences on my choice to pursue a career in Business. We all learned so much and were able to gain hands on insight into real life business situations.

I really enjoyed my experience as a scholar. The sessions were well-prepared and I gained a lot oMy favorite aspect of the curriculum were our lessons on resumes and interviewing, as well as the one on communication during our final session. The hands on practice during the communication lesson also helped me to see how I could better use these skills.f good information. Being a part of the program has opened my eyes to the world with a new perspective that I can achieve anything and become the person I desire to be in life…YEA instilled a higher sense of maturity, responsibility and character within myself.

My greatest areas of personal growth by far, are public speaking, and leadership. Before the program I was nervous in both of these areas, but because the heavy emphasis placed on participation, and teamwork, I feel confident leading a group and addressing a crowd.

Having a mentor allowed me to have a second set of eyes on my work. It was someone outside my circles that could offer their thoughts, as well as share parts of my life with outside the program to help determine my goals. I think it could be improved by further defining the roles and specific jobs for the mentors to complete in their work with the scholar.
